Have you ever tried running away from the dark?
From the whirlpool of sadness, loneliness, and despair. Where everything simply sucks you in, grab hold of your soul, and banish it out of clarity. All you could do is wait, and wait, and weep, and cry, until eventually you'll lose your soul to darkness. Never to see the light, ever again.
Oh, but it wasn't that bad. Losing your soul. It was the process, that time when you got sucked in by the dark. That's when it hurts the most. That's the most terrifying thing you could ever imagine.
You'll see yourself standing in a dark, black room. No lights. Just plain darkness with no limit. You wouldn't dare finding out yourself anyway. At first, you know you're not alone. You can feel the presence of all the people you love. The ones you treasure the most. Some will hold your hand. Some will hug you in a tight embrace. Some will simply stand still, waiting for your call. Even if you can't see them, you'll know that everyone's there. All those who care.
But then slowly, ever so slowly, they'll disappear. One by one, their presence will vanish. You couldn't feel them. Those who wait, they'll disappear first. Because eventually they'll got tired of waiting. No one wants to be treated as an option anyway. And then the hugs, the embraces. Oh, all the ones you thought wouldn't leave you forever. They will leave with a little sorrow. And lastly, when you start to tighten up your grip to both hands that simply hold yours, they'll slip out of it. Simply disappear. Ever so slowly, ever so painfully.
That's when you knew you were left alone. To fight against the darkness that you can't deny sometimes. They'll leave you alone to fend for yourself, to search for a little light. A little salvation that can bring you back to sanity. To clarity. To hope, and to dreams. At first you'll try. You'll try to get out alone. You'll be full of arrogance, you'll fail to realize that you can't do anything by yourself. No matter how alone you are, you need someone to get you out. A savior. Somewhere, somehow.
At the end of the day, you'll see that you can't fight alone. You can't run a mile on your own. You won't be able to see how far you've gone if you run alone. You need help, to return that darkness into a shadow, letting it stay there until time knocks on your door and take you away.
Because no one really minds being alone. But deep down, nobody wants to be lonely.
